Land Acknowledgement
Equitable Solutions Consulting operates in Treaty 1 territory on the ancestral lands of the Anishinaabe, Ininiwak, Anishininiwak, Dakota, and Dene peoples, and on the homeland of the Red River Métis. We recognize the continuing harms caused by settler colonialism to Indigenous peoples and the impacts to these lands by our extraction of resources for our consumption; we accept our responsibility to disrupt settler colonialism and anti-Indigenous racism through personal and collective accountability and action. We acknowledge our learning must never end; we strive to honour and manifest the teachings of original peoples of these lands.
Acknowledgment of African Ancestry
We acknowledge that the foundations of what is now Canada were shaped, in part, by 200 years of enslavement and exploitation of African peoples, their unfree labour and the sale of their bodies used to fuel colonial development.
We honour and acknowledge all peoples of African descent, whose histories, struggles, wisdom, and triumphs continue to shape this country we call Canada, and in particular, our ancestors who endured the transatlantic slave trade, colonial displacement, and systemic injustice yet carried forward traditions of resilience, resistance, creativity, and unshakable dignity to help build Canada. We dedicate ourselves to learning and teaching the untaught truths of Canadian history.
